China's Ministry of Education will tilt its vocational education support toward vocational schools with tough majors and those in poor regions, reported the China Youth Daily Friday.

The total amount and quota of vocational scholarships will favor schools with difficult majors such as agriculture, mine and oil, and in-demand majors such as advanced manufacturing and modern service industry, Zhao Jianjun, deputy head of the ministry's finance department, was quoted as saying at a press conference.

Financial aid for students will be granted more favorably to vocational schools in middle and west regions as well as areas with deep poverty, he added.

To ensure equality, the distribution of scholarships and financial aid will be based on the number of students in different areas and schools, while taking into account different characteristics and policies, Zhao said.

"The favorable policy will make the variety of financial support for vocational education better and more effective to serve its targeted recipients," Zhao was quoted as saying.
